hometown: new canaan, connecticut
family info: newly married to sara kay
when did you come to good shepherd? september 2007 as a member and september 2008 as staff
what do you love about your role here? I love seeing how encouraging and empowering youth to have a relationship with the Lord impacts the entire family dynamics at home and in the world.
what schools have you attended since high school? Davidson College – B.A. English; Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary – working on Masters in Divinity
in addition to the bible, what books have influenced your thought? The Master Plan of Evangelism by Robert Coleman; How Now Shall We Live? by Chuck Colson; Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne; When Kumbaya Is Not Enough by Dean Borgman
deserted island; three albums: Ten Thousand Days by Bebo Norman; Give Up by The Postal Service; Flood by They Might Be Giants
what do you do for fun? I am a big fan of exploring, not internationally per say, but simply new parts of town or new pathways through the woods I have not yet seen by way of walking, running, hiking. I enjoy seeing familiar faces at Summit Coffee, and I love to go on road trips with Sara Kay while listening to a new mix of never-heard-before songs that both amuse and invigorate.
who do you want to be when you grow up? Gary Palmer (not related to Arnold) must be one of the most tender-hearted and faithful men I have ever spent time around. He befriended me on our mission trip to West Virginia, and his desire to be around young people and to encourage them to have faith in Christ was inspiring. I want to have that same affection for kids when I have white hair and could easily hang up my hat. Not for Gary, and for that I admire him greatly.
